What exactly is a RAW file, and what advantages, if any, does this format have over TIFF? I use both SF6 ai (Nikon LS4000) and SF6 HDR and normally save scanned images in 48-bit HDR Color.

gamut warning
We Silverfast users can never stop asking for new features, so here's another: how about including a gamut warning feature in HDR, if not Ai, so that our HCL adjustments don't have to be readjusted when working with scanned images in Photoshop or other imaging programs? appropriate calibration slide?
By the use of the "appropriate calibration slide," do you mean that the calibration slide and the scanned slide should both come from the same film manufacturer?

Scanning color negs using SF60 AI in HDR Color mode
Using SF60 AI for my Nikon LS 4000, I have been unsuccessful in scanning color negatives using the HDR color mode. Despite the fact that I have selected "negative" under options, the scan that Silverfast produces remains a negative. I have also experienced this failure in SF 5.5. Am I doing somethin...

GANE not working in SF60 HDR
GANE works fine when working with Ai and my Nikon LS 4000 but has no effect whatsoever when using GANE in HDR on a TIF file based on color negative scan. The negative is a 14-year-old Fuji, ASA 100 film, specific type unknown. Using HDR again, I opened another TIF file based on a color slide scan an...

I have just replaced my scanner software from Nikonscan 3.1 to the most current version of Silverfast. WOW! I would not have believed it possible that one software product could be so fantastic. Keep up the great work! To all owners of the Nikon LS4000 using any other software, run, don't walk, to y...
