Re: Minolta 5400 - original HDRi
I realize that the 5400 is no longer available but it is a very capable scanner. The thought of having SRDi and HDRi available is exciting - as I have 1000s of Kodachromes to scan. I really like what you are up to as I figured that Silverfast could not be improved. Of note, I am running the 5400 sof...

Minolta 5400 - original HDRi
Will the Minolta 5400 be added to the list of scanners supported by HDRi?
Thanks,

Multi-exposure and multi-sample are two different methods. In the case of multi-sample, it is done in one pass in both software packages. What it does is take 1,2,4,8 or 16 samples to generate the output and can be very time consuming. The improvement in the dense portions of the negative improve si...

I have tested version 6.5r1 and there has not been any improvement in the area of multi-exposure. It had been reported earlier that it does not work at 4000 dpi but does at 2000. This is partially true, sometimes it does work. I, like most, have upgraded for this feature only to be let down and no a...

Hi Johannes, I only did one scan to verify if it worked at 2000 and 4000 to test the alignment. I scanned an old Kodachrome slide and there seemed to be little difference. However, on my Minolta Scan Elite 5400, the difference is quite noticeable. I am not sure it Lasersoft has fully optimised the M...

I did test the M-E at both 2000 and 4000 dpi. I can verify that it worked properly at 2000 but not 4000. I scan my 35mm stuff at 4000 and the medium format at 2000. The latest version (r5) does not add any improvement to the M-E issues. Instead, it added a few of its own. The one-touch IT8 calibrati...

I have two scanners - Minolta's 5400 Mark 1 and Microtek's 120 tf with FW 1.8. The Minolta works fine with M-E (although the original did not) and occasionally showed alignment problems when extended to ME 4). M-E does not work with any source wether 35mm or 6X9. I am truly waiting for a version the...

The sample I posted was from an under-exposed Kodachrome slide and the example explored the ability or the scanner and M-E to extract the maximum detail and reduce the signal to noise ratio - which is does in a remarkable way. Back it the days of slides, we normally underexposed our images to preven...

Minolta 5400 and Version 6.5 M-E example
Here is a scan as an example. It is from a Kodachrome 65 slide I shot in 95 and is of an alley way in Sydney. Here is the full image http://www.users.on.net/~bobrapp/rocks.jpg [/img] Here is a 5400 dpi of a wall section from the left. Note the noise in the dark areas. I adjusted the levels to highli...
