It looks like I'm running into the same problem. As I consider upgrading to 6.6, I'm also trying to consider my potential hardware upgrades. It looks like SF 8 isn't compatible with my scanner, but I'd also like to avoid upgrading to 6.6, then upgrading hardware, only then needing to upgrade softwar...
