Sequence of tool applications in SF8 Ai and HDR

Hello, once the setup for the various tools like iSRD, USM and others is finished the image is scanned / processed. In which sequence are these tools then applied during processing? Is the sequence the same as the sequence in which I have activated the tools or are they always applied in a given seq...

Re: Red faces with Kodachrome slides

Hello, unfortunately you give no further details so one has to guess. Since you ask this question I assume that the slides themselves look okay and it is only the scan which shows faces which are too red. Also, the issue seems to be only with Kodachrome. By the way, Kodachrome colours are very stabl...

Re: Visible problems in the image-output with disturbing error patterns and artifacts

Hello,

as far as I can tell, this is most likely due to a stepper motor problem. A similar looking example is given in the reflecta DigitDia manual. Extreme examples may be found here and here.

Re: Gamma bei 48bit/HDR ??

Sehr geehrter Herr Ketelhohn,

Re: Negative to Positive scans

Dear George, may I extend the explanation by Arne Ketelhohn somewhat for clarity. But ... the theme there isn't this Yes, this is exactly the topic since you have to understand what the 48bitHDR format is and is not. If there is a misunderstanding it is from LSI staff. No, the misunderstanding is on...

Re: Unpacking HDR and HDRi in Camera Raw

Hello, the HDR files can be processed with e.g. PhotoShop or other colour managed software, provided you apply the gamma-correction and interpret an ICC profile -- either the one embedded in the HDR TIF or one you apply independently. I do that regularly. Since you are talking about 48bit HDR data (...

Re: Negative to Positive scans

Dear Chris, may I add a few items for clarity. The HDRi format of SilverFast is somewhat of a misnomer. It is the data as delivered from the scanner (as Arne Ketelhohn wrote) with no image processing applied by SilverFast. It is not the real raw data from the detector, however, since the firmware of...

Re: Multi-exposure test reports

Good morning, thank you very much for the clarification. This means, that the ME-exposure has twice the exposure time than the standard exposure for all scanners. This is what I measure for my DigitDia6000. On the LSI-Webpage on ME there is a report published, which states a gain in density due to M...

Re: Emulsion side when scanning 35mm film.

Hi Giovanni, in the past I had oriented my slides with emulsion side towards the LED. Then I got a diagram of my scanner which explicitly showed that the emulsion side should face the CCD. I contacted PIE and they confirmed that this orientation gives the optimum quality. Then I made a simple test w...

Multi-exposure test reports

Good evening, on the SilverFast webpage on ME there are two test reports provided. Unfortunately they are for SilverFast6, which I do not have. I have looked into these reports and they only state at the beginning that "For scanners that offer different exposure times multiple images are scanne...
