Re: Best profile for Kodak Vision 3/CineStill 50

It's all very subjective, but I actually find the Kodak VR profile quite pleasing. Apparently it's similar to Ektar, so maybe try that (but I don't like Ektar so...)

Maybe Lasersoft will make Cinestill 50 and 800 profiles for us. If we ask nicely... 8)

defining multiple frames - how?

Hello, Please somebody explain to me what I'm doing wrong here. I have an OpticFilm 120 with Silverfast 8.8.0r8 Ai Studio. I want to set up several frames from a 6x9 preview. Following the instructions in the Job Manager documentation, I do the following: - Prescan - set up the first frame but then:...

Re: VLT/SF 8.5 HDR no longer recognizes HDRi RAW

Yes, I opened with Adobe Lightroom. The only change made through Lightroom was to add IPTC Copyright data. I thought Silverfast is IPTC-compliant ?

VLT/SF 8.5 HDR no longer recognizes HDRi RAW

Hi, This evening I had a bad shock when opening SF 8 HDR. In the VLT, most image previews are no longer showing the HDRi RAW badge, and when I open one of these, and try an Auto CCR correction, the results are horrible. The only files which show HDRi RAW, and which process correctly, are files I pre...

Maximum offsets in Preferences

Dear Silverfast Team, Could you please explain the meaning / function of the two items in Preferences / Special: Maximum offset for iSRD alignment (default: 70px) Maximum offset for ME alignment (default: 20px) They sound very interesting, especially as I have problems with both of these features. T...

Some questions on SF8 usage

Hi - I'm just getting into using my Canoscan 9000F for a major archive scanning project, and I've noticed a few things which I'd appreciate advice / help / suggestions on: 1. Input settings: I have a mix of Kodachrome & Ektachrome. I want to scan in the order that the slides are in their storage...

HDR 8: are we nearly there yet?

Last night I downloaded the latest version of HDR 8. I'm sure there have been various improvements under the hood, but superfically progress seems very slow. It must be 9 months since the first Beta, and there are still basic features, such as zoom, that don't work (apart from the strangely hidden 1...

Colour cast removal / File naming

Hi, Two points about 8.0.1r6 1. I'm sorry if this has been raised elsewhere, or if I'm just blind, but has the Color Cast Removal slider vanished ? This is such a time-saver and probably my favorite feature in Silverfast! 2. Output default file naming has always been a bit weird for me in HDR 6.6. S...

Auto Sharpen feature

I think I'm becoming far too regular on this forum... sorry, just having too much fun with Silverfast :-) I've been looking at the auto sharpening filters in HDR Studio, and I noticed that when I open a file from my Minolta DMSP, sometimes I get different (more) steps: sometimes I get "More Aut...

CanoScan 9000F IT8 calibration

Hi - I have used Auto-IT8 for calibrating my new Canoscan 9000F using a 35mm Lasersoft target. Is this recommended, or should I be using a larger transparency ? When I compare a scan with a scan from my Minolta DSMP (which is very close to the original transparency) , the colour balance is not quite...

Ok thanks -

I think I'll actually just use HDR Studio.... Life is too short for Photoshop :-)

Best wishes

Re: HDR Gamma setting

Thanks Arne - 0:4 ... and it looks like you still have all your luck unused :-) I have a final question about manipulating HDR files - out of curiosity this weekend, I've been trying to replicate the Silverfast Histogram / Curves behaviour in Photoshop, applying a 2.2 Gamma correction using Levels t...

HDR Gamma setting

Hi - I'm a bit puzzled about the "for HDR Output" option next to Gamma-Gradation in General Options, and how it relates to Gamma expected in 48bit/HDR in HDR Studio. According to Ian Lyons' tutorial, one should not check the option if one is using IT-8 calibration. But he also says the Gam...
