IT8 Calibration - Target Bounding Box Skewed
I'm trying to calibrate my scanner, a V750. I'm using v6.6.2r5 and a 4x5 transparency target. I have the reference file downloaded. I launch the IT8 calibration process and it does a prescan. Then it does another scan at some zoomed in level. The target bounding box is skewed on screen but because t...

Re: Scanning for HDR Software
OK, thanks. It's been a while since I did any scanning. In the case of neg. film if I recall, the 48 bit colour option (i.e., RAW scan) doesn't back out the orange film mask nor does it invert the image to a positive. Or are the film profiles still available to be used even in the RAW scanning proce...

Scanning for HDR Software
I'm looking to get some insight into scanning for using scanned image files in HDR software (e.g., Photomatix). HDR software works best with linear data. Image files from a camera may be gamma corrected via a colour profile but that gamma correction is reversed out by the software before merging the...

Washed out colour
Did a search and didn't find anything applicable. Just did the update to 6.6.0r3 for Studio Ai IT8 ME, for an Epson V750 Pro working on a WinXP Pro SP2 box and scanning through PS CS3. Scanning neg. film and am having an issue that has never cropped up previously. Scans are very washed out. Pre-scan...

I'm sorry Martin, but that shouldn't matter. If I calibrate the scanner in Transparency mode, save that profile and then use that profile in the Options>CMS>Profiles for ICM>Scanner (Reflective) with ICM selected for Input>Internal under Colour Management, then the ICC profile I created with the tra...

I understand and expect that there will be a difference between a profile created with a spectro and a profile created with a scanner. Given improvements in scanners since Monaco offered their scanner-based profiling option several years ago and the quality of the SF software I would have expected a...

Printer Calibration Option
Having bought the Printer Calibration upgrade, some questions have arisen in working through using it. As usual with LS, the documentation is less than adequate. 1. Most printer profiling solutions give you the option to tweak the profile once it's created. Typically a profile may need to be adjuste...

Printer Calibration Option - SOLVED
Recently attempted to upgrade to the version which supports printer calibration. For $100, I figured it was worth a shot. Can't get it to work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program 3 times. I've reserialised all three times and done a new IT8 calibration each time as is supposed to be done t...

That does make some sense. But it basically throws the idea of colour management out the window for neg. film which is somewhat odd. Silverfast does the inversion (if you scan in neg. mode rather than pos. or HDR) and filters out the mask based on the canned film profiles provided and at that point ...

Yep, I understand that's the way it's [i3dd4cf4]supposed[/i3dd4cf4] to work. When I select Transparency/Positive in the General tab and then go into the Options>CMS Input>Internal is active in the Color Management Section and I am then able to select the scanner profile from the Scanner>Transparency...

Apparently there hasn't been an update to fix this problem because I posted a question earlier today about the same issue. Glad to see these guys are on top of their game. The difference you're seeing between the preview scan in SF and what you see in PS has to do with the way your scanner sees colo...

Colour Management Options
Did a search, didn't find anything overly useful so am posting a new question. SF 6.5.5r2, Ai Studo ME IT8 is the version on an Epson V750 scanner. Several colour management options on the CMS tab are greyed out and I can't find out how to activate them. Input>Internal, Scanner>Reflective and Scanne...

Speed Issues
I've begun to scan some old film since updating my scanner to the V750. Using SF 6.5.5r2, Epson V750, 4800 dpi, 35mm film, no Ice, no AACO, ME 2X. Scanner is connected to a computer which acts as a server and has a P4 2.4GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. Scanner is accessed from server on production c...

What is up with v6.5
What the hell has happened to what was a good software package? I made some scans this afternoon. I go away and come back a couple hours later, do a Prescan with NO settings being changed and everything is purple. What is with this new version? First the upgrade pricing is completely whacked and now...
