LSI_Muenier, you say SS120 has a firmware problem, but obviously you seem to have been coping with it, since that scanner (and ArtixScan 120tf) is now listed as supported for ME. So, the question arises whether you will be supporting it for ArtixScan 4000tf? Moreover, the ArtixScan 4000tf is not eve...

Not really, it is just plain VERY lousy at focusing! The worst are dense slides, but it can happen to any slide, and very frequently I have to try 2 or 3 times before I get a scan where I can see the grains, and where the dirt is not just fuzzy. There is only one single non-movable point it attempts...

4000tf, sometimes misses focus?

I have never come to grips as to why ArtixScan 4000tf sometimes misses focus. If I scan it again, it may be ok, but you can never be sure. Since I scan in batch, it is VERY annoying when it misses focus, since I don't want to check sharpness immediately, but rather much later on a bunch of images, w...

Shadow performance

Multiexposure would definitely improve shadow performance. Many people say this scanner doesn't need any multisampling or similar, but they simply haven't looked carefully enough, or aren't that picky. If you don't have any highlights, you can crank up the lamp Lightness setting, but if you have tex...

Erratic Multiple Scanning and Bad Shadow Performance

Having an ArtixScan 4000tf, which, with its claimed dynamic range of 4.3, is supposed to be able to capture even the darkest shadows of slides. However, it is obviously not capable of that, at least not if SilverFast 6.1.0 is used. With normal slides, this may not be much of a problem, but in slides...

IT8 calibration button still greyed despite CMS in 6.1.0r3

Version 6.1.0r3 of Ai still has problems showing the correct calibration status. The button should be colored to show it is calibrated (or actually that CMS is properly activated), but in several situations this does not happen or it goes grey. Examples using Mac OS X 10.2.6 with SF Launcher while c...

Ai 6.1.0r3 still crashes if Option Parameter is overwritten

As I reported in spring 2003 per email for an earlier version of SilverFast Ai, version 6.1.0r3 Ai still crashes if you under Option->General try to save Option Parameter to a name that already exists (i.e you want to update an existing setting). This does at least happen on Mac OS X 10.2.6 using SF...

If I explicitly DELETE the old plugin BEFORE update, then the installer will actually put the new 6.1 plugin in its place! So obviously, the installer is not tested, since it does not even do a version check of the existing file. So far, things seem to work, although some of my previous settings are...

SFE-6.1.0r3(MicroIT8) updater does not update SFE-6.0.2!?

I had previously updated to SFE-6.0.2r31(MicroIT8), and yesterday downloaded the update package SFE-6.1.0r3(MicroIT8), dated 2003-09-17, on my G4 Mac OS X 10.2.6. The upgrade/installation appeared to go fine, I was prompted to select which Photoshop version I wanted to install the plugin into etc. T...

After hours of zillions of fruitless installation attempts, wiping all old installations, pref files etcetera, I finally managed to get it working by downloading a new file from LaserSoft. That file was dated two days later than the file I had downloaded earlier, despite it had the same version numb...

What happened to the IT8 button??

I upgraded to 6.0.2r8 from 6.0.1r35, and now the button is gone!? I have just bought a new IT8 target, and REALLY need that button NOW!! I have an ArtixScan 4000tf, Mac OS X 10.2.4, I upgraded by custom install since I only use the standalone app and don't want the software to be installed in a Phot...
