Re: Beginner requiring basic procuct information

I have two different supported scanners, an Epson V750, and a Nikon Super CoolScan 5000 ED. May I assume that one version of HDR Studio will cover scanned data produced from both scanners?. Thus would it make sense to purchase the Archive Suite bundle for one of the scanners, and the SF Ai Studio fo...

Re: HDR Studio 8 Workflow Question

Thank you Alejandro. I appreciate your suggestions and will follow them. For what its worth, (I appreciate that I am single customer and certainly in no position to second guess LSI) but I do not think the purity of a raw workflow in HDR will not be significantly disturbed by allowing the end user (...

HDR Studio 8 Workflow Question

I am a SF6 licensee who is considering upgrading my 3 licenses, Nikon 5000ED, Epson V750 & HDR Studio to SF8. (I know HDR Studio is still in beta.) Obviously this would involve a considerable outlay on my part so I want to make sure I know what I am doing. My preferred workflow for color negativ...

Zoom Beyond 1:1 in SF Version 8?

I am demoing SF8 for an Epson V750. I wasn't able to zoom beyond 1:1. Is there a way to do that? Zooming closer, particularly when using SRD on reflective images and B&W in Ver 6 seemed to make it much easier to make judgments as to dust and scratch removal, especially in regards to defect size....

Re: Raw Scans

You were correct Mr. Ketelhohn. Apparently I just need to be more careful to double check that I have not accidentally turned off ICE before pushing "scan." Something I was doing (and it may have been playing around with SRD) may have been causing that to occur.

Re: Raw Scans

OK. I am not sure where the problem lies, but "user error" is certainly the most logical explanation. I will give it another try Mr. Ketelhohn.

Re: Raw Scans

Much to my chagrin, I have learned from trial and error (and seemingly confirmed by Mr. Lyons' response) that even though it appears that the ICE button goes "on" in the Lasersoft software for my Nikon 5000 when in 48bit HDR processing mode, ICE is in fact being disabled (or least the infr...

Re: LS5000 and 4000 dpi scanning

Does anyone happen to know of any measurement of the true resolution of a Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED? I know that the marketing claims 4000 spi, but I would like a closer to actual number if there is one to avoid interpolation in a high resolution scan.

Re: Automatic IT8 Calibration

I used the Auto IT8 calibraton function with a SF IT8 reflective target, and everything seemed to go just fine. However, the literature indicates that the software should have given me the opportunity to save the profile somewhere. I am guessing that this is a situation in which either the documenta...

Re: HDRi for Nikon Coolscan 5000 for Windows

Thank you very much for your quick response Nils. The ability to post-edit the infrared channel in HDR is, I think, a major step forward for Silverfast and a great selling point for HDR. I would very much like to encourage Silverfast to implement this advance in the Coolscan 5000 for Windows users i...

HDRi for Nikon Coolscan 5000 for Windows

It appears that the Silverfast HDRi feature is only available for a Nikon Coolscan 5000 in the Mac version, but not the Windows version. Will the Windows version be rewritten at some point to add that capability?

Thanks!

Re: Silverfast Archive Suite

I already own ai 6 for my Epson V750. I am considering doing a cross-upgrade in order to purchase the Archive Suite for my Nikon Coolscan 5000. I assume that the HDR portion of the suite is not scanner bound. In other words, notwithstanding that the new ai 6 license I purchase for my Nikon will only...

Re: Post-Editing Options for HDR Output

Thank you RAG. I think the clouds are parting a bit. However, I am a still a little unclear on one point. I was wondering if HDR was a proprietary format like NEF, for example. Hence my question whether ACR could open it, after which you would make your global adjustments in say, Lightroom, and then...

Post-Editing Options for HDR Output

I am new to Silverfast so I apologize if this question is too basic or has been answered elsewhere (although I have spent some time looking). I am trying to figure out what my workflow should be (with an Epson V750-M) and have some questions about the option to output to 48 bit HDR. I think I unders...
