Re: ArtixScan 1800f error message, cannot calibrate scanner...
I wanted to post that I recently had essentially the same problem with my Artixscan 1800f as was described. I was able to contact Microtek and get it repaired for a reasonable fee - which included replacing all the lamps.

Re: future of film scanning
Unfortunately, the light source ages even when not in use as the aging is usually due to oxygen intrusion on the soft vacuum within the bulb. As oxygen intrudes it reacts with the elements within the bulb causing color shifts and eventually failure. This is equally applicable to florescent and LED l...

Re: Error Message on VLT
The import/unload was done into a new album. Both the new and the old names were unique.

Re: HDR Studio 6.6.0r6 Name conflict on unload/export
In all cases the unload was to a new album. Equally so, I verified that all the files in the source were uniquely named. Additionally, unloading and using the rename function to generate an entirely new name - prefix with generated index suffix also shows the problem.

Error Message on VLT
After unloading a compact flash card into the VLT to an album certain frames are listed with a red color. Upon attempting to export the album the following error message is displayed: Unable to Save: Some of the files have assigned the same file name. The file names are marked with red color within ...

HDR Studio 6.6.0r6 Name conflict on unload/export
When I attempt to unload my external media (Compact Flash) the import goes okay, but some file names are read. When I want to export the album I get this message: "Unable to save: "Some of the files have assigned the same name. The file names are marked with a red color within the thumbnai...

HDR Open Mode
It would be nice if HDR could open a file (image) for processing via a command line parameter so that it could be invoked from another program such as Xnview's edit function. The current requirement to either open it in with the open dialog or use the VLT to open a imported image isn't really consis...

Lamp On for Microtek 1800f
As with some of the other Microtek products, when Silverfast quits it leaves the lamp on in the scanner. I understand that the problem has been fixed with at least one Microtek scanner, does anyone know if it is going to be fixed for the 1800f? If so, in what release was it or will it be? Thanks.

Oops
What I meant was try a slide or two using the Microtek software to get it to transition to slide mode before using the Silverfast software. If that doesn't work, then its probably the scanner hardware with a problem.

Scan a couple of slides First
Did you try scanning a slide or two first? As best as I can tell, the 1800f mechanism rermains in the last state it was used in after a scan. So, in this case, if you scan a slide it should remain setup for a positive transparency. That being said, I've found Microtek products for reflective media e...

Starting HDR without the VLT
Silverfast HDR Studio is just perfect for my Nikon D200 images (and a very large number of scanned slides/negatives/prints/artwork..). I'm pleased with the functionality. More than this - I'm finally getting stuff from RGB to CMKY for printing reliably. All that being said, I find the VLT cumbersome...
