Re: OS X Lion and Localization

I've had a thread running under "New features wishlist" forum since 2007 requesting Universal Binaries, without any success, see http://forum.silverfast.com/universal-binary-t5058.html My recent request for an update saw the thread locked by LSI_Morales and a suggestion to look at this thr...

Re: Universal Binary

Well, another major new version of OS-X has been announced and is due for imminent release, the third major release since PowerPC architecture was dropped. So here I am with my customary request for Universal Binaries for Silverfast, maybe third time lucky eh? :-? Given that Lion will not include Ro...

New Pricing

I noticed today on the news site that there are some pricing reductions for certain "high-end" scanners, notably non of those listed would be considered "consumer" scanners. Among those listed are the Howtek scanners, D2500, D4000/4500, D5500, D6500 and D7500. My cynical side sug...

Re: Universal Binary

But let us conclude why universal binarys are a good thing, it is because of increasing the performance on Intel Macs. Actually, I don't think performance is the major issue with the need for a Universal Binary at all, I imagine most Silverfast users are already quite happy with the speed of the ap...

Re: Universal Binary

I'm starting to feel like I'm flogging a dead horse here, but... is there some kind of anti universal-binary sentiment at Lasersoft? Having just installed the latest ( 6.6.0r6 ) I find that even the Epson V750 version is still running PowerPC binaries, nevermind my less popular Howtek version. Snow ...

Re: Silverfast for Howtek Scanners and Mac OS 10.5 Leopard

I think what djtaylor is asking is whether the Howtek version has been updated to be compatible with 10.5 Leopard, rather than if the previous version just doesn't crash, to which the answer is regrettably "No". The Howtek version doesn't appear to have changed for a long time, and is stil...

Re: Universal Binary

Any chance we'll see a Universal Binary before Apple drop support for PowerPC architecture? ( as rumoured for "Snow Leopard" ).

I hate to labour the point, but the tools for compiling as a Universal Binary have been available since 2005...

Universally Unsupported

I'm not sure why you think it was me you may have aggravated, I have not responded since your reply to my original post, though I cannot speak for these other posters, and whilst I do share some of their sentiment, I personally think they ( one in particular ) are a little harsh.... So to be clear, ...

Leopard Compatibilit

I've just upgraded to Leopard, I couldn't wait any longer, every other app I use has been verified for Leopard, it was only Silverfast left. I thought I'd report my findings. Silverfast Ai Studio 6.5.5r2 for Howtek 4500. Firstly, the app does run, but there are problems : 1 - the app is *still* not ...

Universal Binary

Whilst testing the latest 6.5.5r2, I was shocked to see that it is *still* not a Universal Binary, my Intel Mac shows that whilst "Silverfast Universal Launcher" is running Intel native, "Silverfast Universal" and "sssfdexe" are PowerPC binaries. Intel chips were announ...

Topics being clipped

The topics of new posts on this forum are being truncated. I posted "Update downloads broken" and it's been clipped. I re-edited it, and it was clipped again.

Also, the formatting is broken, things like bold don't work, the forum software appears to be a bit broken...

Confirmed yes, the film profiles all remain in the same menu even after a restart.

I launch Silverfast from the Launcher, never from Photoshop ( I don't have it installed on that machine ).

Profiles still misplaced

Update since installing 6.5.0r8. Before installing, I uninstalled and deleted everything pertainting to Silverfast on my machine. All preferences, and Application Support directories, plist, everything. A complete clean slate. I installed 6.5.0r8, installation was clean, no problems. I installed the...

Menu corruption

Could you look into the problem of the Negafix profiles not appearing in the correct menu on Howtek Silverfast Ai Studio? As I detailed before, there are three menus, "Film-Make", "Film Type" and "ISO Speed", and the first two menus are empty, save for "Other, Dele...
