REFLECTA MF5000
Hi !
I plan to buy this scanner and i just would like to know if you will develop Silverfast 8 for this scanner ?
for me you are the best software for scanning, and this scanner is not complete, for me, if I can not use Silverfast !
Thanks in advance !

Hi there,
interesting, we are currently working on the implementation of this scanner with SilverFast 8. It might take a couple of weeks for a release version but yes.
'Cheers

Hi Carlo,
We discovered serious image noise issues with the actual driver. Our colleagues from pacific image electronics (the scanner manufacturer) are working to solve this.
It is likely that a driver and framework updates will be available for the scanner

Hi Carlo,
Given my previous answer
I can only tell, we have to wait until the new solution from the scanner manufacturer is available. Hence, it is impossible to tell right now any date. As soon as we get new driver and probably firmware updates we will start the implementation work.
Thanks for your patience and understanding
Cheers

Re: REFLECTA MF5000
Hi,
I have a Minolta 5000 mf for a few days. In my scans i see some lines across the image, banding. Overcoat on dense zones of the negative/positive, middle tones too. When you talk about of a new driver and firmware (I have mac osx SL) as a solution... are you talking about this problem of banding? I´m thinking to return the scanner. It´s absolutely unacceptable for any scanner, more so for one so expensive. Do you recommended me to wait for a solution from the manufacturer or not?
Are the same manufacturer Pacific Image and Reflecta?
Thanks
Juanjo

Hi Juanjo
I actually talking about the new medium format scanner from Reflecta, not a Minolta scanner, they are two different brands. So far I know Minolta stop producing scanners long time ago.
If we are talking about the Reflecta scanner, yes, Pacific Image Electronics is the scanner manufacturer. I suggest to contact the guys from Reflecta or Pacific Image Electronics in your country and ask directly, you can take your decision based on their answer.
Cheers

Hi, Your message
'I can only tell, we have to wait until the new solution from the scanner manufacturer is available. Hence, it is impossible to tell right now any date. As soon as we get new driver and probably firmware updates we will start the implementation work.'
is a little bit confusing. I contacted Pacific Image Electronics and they answered:
'Hello, We are working with SilverFast for drivers for our scanners, please
contact them directly on their status of their software updates as we have
released several version drivers since this product was released.
Wendy'
So, it seems that it is up to you to provide silverfast 8.
Thanks for clarifying, Fabian

Hi Fabian
Allow me to step in here. Thanks for forwarding the reply you received from PIE. We won't share any correspondence or included details with our partners publicly, that's just our policy, so I can't comment directly to the answer you received.
The fact is that we are still working with PIE on some critical issues which are currently preventing us from releasing a public version of SilverFast 8 for the Reflecta MF5000 / PIE PF120. The cooperation and feedback between PIE and us is really excellent and fun. Both parties are benefiting from the partnership - as intended. SilverFast is not just a driver and we have to add some extra value to the package. So we test and measure all scanners to the max when implementing SilverFast and due to our experience we usually see issues that wouldn't be critical in normal conditions.
Bottom line, it IS up to us to deliver SilverFast 8 for the scanner and we will take the time to improve the results up to the point where it meets yours and our expectations.
Best,
JAN

Re: REFLECTA MF5000
Good evening, known that there is no novelty with respect to the software for MF5000.
The scanner is a real garbage can, plan to develop software to make it acceptable or have given up?
Moreover it will Reflecta Pacific Image released new firmware will have more drivers, most likely the product has already been abandoned ...
I make no other comments!
greetings
Carlo

Hi Carlo,
Thanks for informing us.
We will have to check if the issues found in previous versions persist.
Right now we do not want to adeventure saying anything about the firmware nor give any specific date.
