Reflecta Crystalscan 7200: straight lines no longer straight

Postby mrvarley » Wed Oct 30, 2013 10:32 pm

My Crystalcan 7200 scanner has today developed a fault that I have so far been unable to correct. I have been using it regularly over recent months with no problem, but today when I did my first scan preview I noticed that vertical lines on the image were distorted in a left-facing bulge near the top of the image. A sample is available to view at http://mdcft.org.uk/temp/Scan-sample.jpg. I have tried reloading firmware and Cyberview software (+driver) but it makes no difference. I have closely inspected the scanner and there is no sign of any physical damage. Any help to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Dear customer,

Have you contacted the manufacturer Reflecta about this?
This is most likely an issue inside the scanner.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks for the pointer to a hardware fault. I took the lid off and found that the wires from the power socket were fouling on the travelling scanner mechanism. By pushing the wires down out of the way I've fixed it and it now works perfectly. Hope this might be a help to any others with the same problem. Still not quite sure why this suddenly started happening after hundreds of scans though... And of course taking the lid off invalidates the warranty so best not to try this if you're still within the warranty period.
