What's wrong with the buttons?

I can't get silverfast ai 5 to open with pictures on the action buttons. Yes, they are all blank boxes even when highlighted. In the manual, there are pictures. PLEASE sombody tell me there is a simple explanation for this.

If you are working on a MAC, please check that you have given your host application enough memory.

Yes!!! Thankyou for FAST suggestions and pointing me to the particular FAQ on
something I hadn't considered. Old Kodak CD plugin was the problem!
