Hello,
I purchased a refurbished SprintScan 120 with V1.33 firmware.
When I attempt to use Polacolor 5.5 it reports "no active device".
When I try to use SilverFast v5.5.or6, it 'Prepares Scan', moves
the film carrier to the rear. Then the scanner makes a very loud
Horn-like sound for 30 seconds and SilverFast reports
"Cannot Calibrate Scanner".....
I returned it to Polaroid - they claim it is 100% functional and sent it back to me. I continue to have the same problems.
I am using Windows 2000 SP4 and have the scanner connected via FireWire.....
The operating system shows the scanner properly installed and enabled, but I cannot get any software to access it .....
ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

SprintScan "Cannot Calibrate Scanner"
problem simplification
Let me just ask :
Should SF 5.5 properly function
with the Polaroid SprintScan 120
with Firmware Upgrade 1.33
using FireWire interface
and a Windows 2000 SP4 Operating System ??
Thank You.

You might want to download any updates for your SF 5.5 and give it another try.
If the firmware upgrade you mention is the one that changes the Polaroid scanner to another model (Microtek) you might need to get the version of SilverFast for the Microtek. If this is the case you will need to work with LaserSoft.

He has version 1.33, that is the last version from Polaroid.
BTW, I also had problems to access the SS120 from my Win2k computer via Firewire, but that PC has unfortunately serious problems with all the USB-configuration, so I assumed that to influence also my Firewire ports, and moved back to SCSI on my Win98 laptop.
