SilverFast Ai 6.1 and Fuji Provia 100F IT8 Target in SS 120

Postby Jim » Tue Sep 09, 2003 3:06 am

My Polaroid SS 120 came bundled SilverFast Ai and scanner calibration software with the C-Roes IT8 target. This target is no longer recommended by SF support. I recently purchased the Fuji Provia 100F IT8 target, since I use Fuji film almost exclusively. I would like to ask the forum members if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, with this target when used to calibrate the SS 120 with SF Ai 6.1, the latest release. I followed the recommendations precisely in the Ian Lyons IT8 calibration/color management tutorial for setting up the CMS dialogue, and yet I have seen some rather bizarre and inaccurate colors in my 35mm and 120 positive transparency scans - not the case when Color Management is turned off, i.e., Input - Internal = None. What might cause this problem? How do the various Image Type settings, Standard, Landscape, Skin Tones, etc., interface with calibration and color management VS. the non-calibrated scanner? Could the setting be a factor here, e.g. switching from Standard to Landscape? Thanks.

If you like, you could send a mail to kristian.kratzenstein@silverfast.com regarding this problem. Please send some example pictures, so I could have a look, where the problem is.

kidn regards
