6x17 Negs in the 120 Glass Carrier

Postby MWesley » Sat Dec 07, 2002 11:04 pm

Hi,

I want to scan some 6x17 negatives with my Sprintscan 120 but I cannot seem to find anyway to do this even though the entire negative fits nicely into the carrier. In Silverfast 6 I can't even see the entire negative in the preview. In Insight I can see it but when I try to scan I get an error message saying 6x9 is the current limit.

Is there a way to do this? I was considering a Fuji 6x17 or a 6x12 back for my 4x5 and I assumed that the glass carrier would be great for large negatives like this.

Thanks,
Martin

I'm afraid but PolaColor Insight is right in saying that 6x9 is the current limit, and is applies also to SilverFast.

The issue is hardware. The scan head covers the full 18cm in two 9cm steps. At one time Polaroid were actively persuing a means of scanning the two 9cm strips and then auto stitching the two scans together. I'm not sure if this project ever got finished.
