Thanks for your reply.

I installed PS 7, which I've not used since changing computer, then discovered that I had to remove SF and re-install. Now have them working together.

However, I find that using them is very time wasting, requiring so many mouse clicks and key pressing, for repetitive action.

Are there plans to improve this within SF, including incrementing the file name number automatically?

Not the usual German efficiency I would expect!

No auto numbering is only available for batch processing.
It is currently not planned to implement this.
But I will forward your request to our product management.

The general workflow will be greatly enhanced in our next major release.

Shortly after I suffered an eye problem, which stopped all photographic activity. I'm now much recovered and keen to continue the scanning of my 15,000 slides.

Now 'SilverFast SE Plus 8' is available. Has workflow been enhanced to include automatic numbering?

I still have my 7600i with SE SilverFast 6.6, but upgraded from XP Pro to W7 Pro 64 on my current computer.

I've recently bought an ''Epson Perfection V600 Photo' to scan many prints. It also has a 4 slide frame carrier, that has not yet been unwrapped.

Would upgrading SE Plus 8 for this scanner resolve my problem of each slide taking too long to process? I expect to continue to use SE with PS 7, which has all the features I need.

Dear customer,

The Plustek OpticFilm 7600i of cause still can only scan one image at a time.

In SilverFast 8 the saving behaviour was changed.
In single scan mode it no longer overwrites a file of the same name but adds a number at the end.

You can also activate the batch-mode for a single frame.
(by holding the scan button for about a second and selecting batch-scan.)
The batch scan will allow you to select a four digit number to attach.
But this will take slightly longer because the path has to be selected before each scan to differentiate between the individual file names in the scan dimensins dialog ond the automatic numbering.
(The option is mainly meant to be used by automated scanners or with several scan frames)
