Arne,

Thanks for the clarification. I see now that I have the correct driver, as shown in my screenshot posted above.

I saw that framework earlier and thought the name PLK_A120 had elements resembling Plustek OpticFilm 120, but I disregarded this observation since frameworks for other models are so clearly labeled. Now I also see that the PLK_A120 was installed at the same time as the other drivers.

I wonder if it would be possible for the programmers to assign a name which more clearly confirms which hardware the software drives, as for the other scanner models. Also, the function might be more clear if for all the drivers Lasersoft were identified as the source in the System Information column "Obtained from".

On the Plustek web page the Windows driver for this scanner is 5.0.1.0, while the OS X framework is version 1.0.0.0. I presume these enable approximately the same scanner functions. Perhaps the version numbers are so different because the Windows driver is written by Plustek and the OS X framework by Silverfast. A note explaining the difference might lessen user confusion. Would the Plustek driver download page be a good place to post such and explanation?

If you think appropriate, could you please pass these requests and suggestions along to the appropriate people at SIlverfast and Plustek?

Thank you for helping me understand Silverfish drivers and/or frameworks.

Dear Tom,

All the drivers are supplied by Plustek.
Unfortunately we can not change their names.
It is quite common for the version numbers to vary between different operating systems.
Often driver developers forget to raise the version number at all.
That happens with all kind of devices.

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
