Scanning Fuji Velvia 50

Plustek recommended I contact you while they investigate, Fuji has yet to respond. My scanner works great on a variety of films, Kodachrome, Kodacolor, Afga, etc. But in switching to Velvia 50, the scanner needs for the glossy side of the film to be up in scanning with the matte side down. Velvia 50 has both sides glossy and my scans turn out slightly out of focus, even though image on the film is super sharp. Is there a work around and has anyone else experienced this? So far no such reports have reached us.
Our Plustek devices produce sharp images no matter if the glossy or matte side is up.
