Hello,
yesterday I bought a brand new opticfilm 7500i AI. When I try to calibrate given the target slide, I get an average delta E around 4 to 4.1. As I understand, this is very high and according to the manual, the target or the actual scanner might be failing. Since I just bought this yesterday and opened the target slide myself, I am worried that I got a faulty product! Should I return the scanner for a replacement/refund?
Thank you,
M

Dear M,
As a matter of fact a Delta value seems to be a bit high. Since your scanner model is not the latest model, it might have been in a warehouse for a couple of years. It is recommended to change the targets every two or at least every three years because the change continually.
Perhaps this bit delta E value does not have anything with the scanner itself.
Before you take the scanner for a change, you should test with a second calibration target (may be a friend of yours has a target?).
Cheers
