I have the Plustek Opticfilm 7600i with bundled SilverFast (UScan-SE).8ba (vers.6.6.1r5).
I've not been using it since early last year due to an eye problem. I've recently received an e-mail offering me an upgrade to the new SilverFast 8.
Going to the website, I've downloaded the 'silverfast8quickguide_en_2012-4-11.pdf' and looked at page 13. It would appear that the name for every scan has to be typed in manually for every image.
This to me was a major weakness and part of the slow repetitive manual effort in using the software. When I scan with a low cost HP all-in-one priner/scanner, it automatically increments the filename.
The WorkflowPilot mentioned in the 'Preface' (Pg 3), suggests it's easy to work with, but 'easy' is not necessarily 'fast' as the name, 'SilverFast' implies.
A lot is made of the 'Multi-Exposure', which if my memory is correct, I already have in the software V-6 indicated above.
What do I gain by spending 59,50 € ?
Is 8 faster to use than 6?

If you do not change the file name it will be automatically numbered like this:
file
file (1)
file (2)
...
The Workflow pilot offers ways to learn certain procedures.
So you know which steps to take while scanning in normal mode.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
