grey cast

I recently purchased the Plustek 7200 with Silverfast SE.

When I preview a slide with a slide viewer, it looks fine. However, when I scan the slides, they come out with a grey/cloudy hue throughout the output. I thought it was caused by the brightness setting being too strong, so I reduced that, but still I get the grey cast. It is especially prevalent on darker slides. They are still bright enough for the viewer, but the scann gives them a cloudy hue.

Is there a setting I need to adjust to get rid of the cloudy hue, besides the brightness adjustment, which I have tried?

Dear mshepley,

did you try to set the black point with the black pipette?
or try to use the image automatic tool?
