I have a 7500i SE, which worked fine on my old PC. I have Windows 7 64bit pro PC on a Sony Vaio Laptop. Have been completely unable to get this to work.
Silverfast support have been responsive, but have not been able to resolve the problem. Plustek have not responded to my requests.
I am using Silverfast 8.
I have focussed on the 3.2.0.1 driver (the one Plustek recommend). Have also tried 3.1.1.3 (recommended for Silverfast 6) and 3.2.0.0 (for the 7500i AI, which Silverfast recommended to try). With 3.2.0.1, quickscan works and it responds when I press the button. It does not work with the other driver options.
SIlverfast simply reports that it cannot find the scanner driver.
I have spent a stupidly large amount of time on this.
I'm surprised that I am being recommended to use a 32bit version of Silverfast.
I really need to get this working, so ANY help or pointers would be very much appreciated.
I'd welcome confirmation from anyone with the same or similar setup to me, about combinations that definitely work
Steve

Re: Getting 7500i SE to work on Windows 64
Dear Steve,
SilverFast requires the 3.2.0.0 driver.
The 3.2.0.1 driver can not be used.
Make sure the 3.2.0.1 driver was completely removed.
If the scanner was attached while uninstalling the driver is likly still installed.
In this case you need to reinstall 3.2.0.1 reboot without the scanner being attached.
Then uninstall it again and reboot.
And finally reinstall the 3.2.0.0 driver.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Getting 7500i SE to work on Windows 64
Arne,
Thanks. I will try this again - with care.
It did not work last time, but I will focus on this version.
Plustek do not have this on their list of drivers, and recommend 3.2.0.1 for Silverfast 8. Could you advise them to change the information on their site?
Regards
Steve

Re: Getting 7500i SE to work on Windows 64
I have now carefully installed the 3.2.0.0 driver (downloaded from the 7500i Ai product page).
I am sorry to report that things are not working. The "quick scan" button on the scanner does nothing (it invokes an action with 3.2.0.1 installed).
Silverfast reports "There was an problem starting your scanner. Please make sure your drivers are installed correctly. You can not use this scanner right now...."

Dear Steve,
Was your scanner disconnected while uninstalling and installing the 3.2.0.0.
Otherwise the driver can not be exchanged.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear Steve,
I have forwarded your issue to our support system.
The drivers probably have to be installed manually.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Getting 7500i SE to work on Windows 64
I had the same problem and this is you I got it to work: (this is from an email I sent to Plustek support)
Thank you for emailing me and offering your support! I was able to resolve this issue on my own by preforming the following steps (exactly!):
To install Plustek Opticfilm 7500i on a Windows 7 64 bit OS:
Keep scanner off. Uninstall any and all opticfilm/silverfast software. Restart.
Install Plustek Driver 3.2.0.0 the normal way (ie run install.exe)with scanner off. Restart computer.
Turn on scanner. Computer successfully installs driver. The quickscan function only should work at this point.
Turn off scanner.
Install Silverfast 6.6 (I downloaded it from Silverfast). Ignore warnings. Restart computer.
Turn on scanner, and you're ready to go!
PS it took me about 10 hours of web search/installing and uninstalling software, etc., to figure this out.

Yes SilverFast 6 still is a 32bit software and requires the 32bit drivers.
