I just got the Opticfilm 120 and am struggling to make sense of this.
Using the 35mm slide holder, it seems to scan a black surround to the slides, which requires cropping of EACH slide after scanning. I attach an example from Bangkok, showing a bar right and left.
Trying 6x7 in the film holders is a nightmare - it redistributes the images between the scans and slices bits off, so useless. I attach a photo showing I put them in the right holder correctly, and a scan to show that the images are sliced up and don't completely scan.
Whose fault is this? is it Silverfast or is it Plustek?
What is the solution (other than sending it back under the Distance Selling Regulations while I still have time)?
Thank you,
rjstep3

Re: film strip offset + black surrounds to scans
Dear customer,
The offset for the 35mm film holder is being fixed by Plustek.
For Windows systems you should already (or very soon) find an updated driver on the Plustek website.
For Macs the driver will be updated with our next update.
Also make sure the red scan frame is set correctly around your image content.
It is used to crop the black areas.
That is also necessary for the image adjustment to work correctly.
Otherwise the black area will disturb the histogram.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: film strip offset + black surrounds to scans
Thank you - and we have of course exchanged emails.
What about the problem with 6x7: you mention the 35mm offset being fixed any time now, but will that same fix address the problems in my post about the offset for medium format slides?
thank you,
rjstep3

Re: film strip offset + black surrounds to scans
Dear customer,
We have not gotten information from Plustek yet if this also influences the 6x7.
Have you tried the 6x12 holder?
Some customers use that instead of the 6x7.
We also haven't tested this yet.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: film strip offset + black surrounds to scans
Another question please: when I scan to TIFF, it saves as a 2 page TIFF file: why is this? how do I turn off this feature? I only want a 1 page TIFF file.
Thank you again,

Re: film strip offset + black surrounds to scans
Dear customer
SilverFast embeds a lower resolution image for faster loading of previews.
Currently this can not be deactivated but I have forwarded a request for this feature to our developers.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
