I am running Silverfast-SE 6.6.0r4c on Windows Vista using a Plustek 7500i scanner.
Using the prescan function on colour slides, whether Kodachrome, Fuji or Agfa, the initial image gradually appears and the colour reproduction is approximately right. However approximately 1 second after the image has fully appeared, the colour suddenly changes and the image looks more washed out, contains a high amount of blue, and the green, brown and yellow hues are almost completely removed. The overall image then has a washed out bluey tinge. The browns, eg sand, take on a pinkish hue. However I try I cannot fully compensate for this using the various colour adjustments on the program, and this shouldn't be necessary anyway. I should add that the final scan produces the same incorrect colours as the prescan.
Can you please advise what is going wrong and what I should do.
Thanks
Richpig

Hello Martin
I have set it to OpticFilm 7200i - Pos since there seems to be no option to set it to OpticFilm 7500i in the program.

Dear richpig,
SilverFast installs a default ICC profile for the 7500i.

Hello Martin
OK. I assume you are suggesting that I should set the CMS Input option to <none>. However this doesn't produce accurate colours either. Again the image that is gradually revealed on prescan has quite accurate colours but the image then changes to an image which is darker than the original with reds apparently accentuated. Greens disappear and browns become red. What else can I try?

Re: Colour reproduction when scanning slides
Dear Richpig,
please choose "SFprofT (OpticFilm 7500i).icc" as the scanner profile.
This is the default profile that comes with SilverFast.
For Kodachrome slides you should choose "SFprofK (OpticFilm 7500i).icc".
Best regards
Martin

Re: Colour reproduction when scanning slides
Hi Martin
On my version of Silverfast SE Plus (6.6.0r4c) there desn't seem to be that option. The scanners that can be set under the CMS tab are, for both SFprofT and SFprofK, Plustek OpticFilm 750, 7200i, 730 or 750. Where would I find the setting you recommend?
I have now applied Options, General, Option parameter, Load factory settings and this seems to have largely cured my problem. I don't know how or why but that at least gets me nearly there.
I look forward to hearing from you re the scanner profile that I can set.
Thanks and regards

Re: Colour reproduction when scanning slides
Dear richpig,
the factory settings will have activated the default scanner ICC profile
which performs the color correction you seemed to miss before.
Best regards

Re: Colour reproduction when scanning slides
Thanks Martin.
I assume from what you now say that having loaded the factory settings under Option Parameter, I do not need to change the settings either under Options General or under CMS whether I am scanning Kodak slides or other slides, e.g Agfa or Fuji. What is your recommendation for the most appropriate of the available CMS settings to use?

Re: Colour reproduction when scanning slides
Dear richpig,
we recommend to use the default CMS settings.
- The scanner profiles are specific for your model, you could perform an individual IT8 calibration with your scanner using our IT8-Targets
- the internal color space of SilverFast is AdobeRGB by default, don't know if you would prefer another one
- rendering intent perceptual is the most common one
