Dear Sir,
I have downloaded the demo versions of Silverfast AI and also HDR Demo too.
I am following your video tutorial on 64 bit scanning for archival purposes but everytime I scan in 64bit hdri (just like the video shows as it scans the aeroplane)the scan looks like the negative itself!!(Orange/brown) Should this be so? I thought it is supposed to look like a developed photo?
Under the general tab I have selected negative and not positive. What am I doing wrong? Even on NegaFix I have Kodak Gold and 200 selected.
When i open up the scan in Silverfast HDR Studio it looks orange brown again.
Your videos make it look so simple yet I don;t know what i'm doing wrong.
Please help
Gary

Re: Archiving many negs
Dear Gary,
Scanning in 64 bit HDRi as well as 48 bit HDR produces an unmodified raw file. It means a file without changes, so you can perform any edition steps afterwards using your favorite editing program (SilverFast HDR or any other).
That is the reason why you see it as a positive image but the resulting file is a negative.
Actually, the upgrade has the IT8 tool included but not the calibration targets, those have to be purchased separately! They will later arrive per post.
Cheers

Thanks

Re: Archiving many negs
Hello there,
You say I can use my favourite editing program later to edit the 64bit hdri or 48 bit hdr unmodifoed RAW scan file which is the file without changes. It is suggested I can use Silverfast HDR which i have downloaded a demo version of.
I go into VLT and I can see the scan, I open it up in HDR Studio but I can't work on it as it is a negative image. I.e. Dark and light tones are reversed!!!
How do I see the image with the colours correctly reversed to then apply isrd and other features as your video shows how to do it at this link
http://www.silverfast.com/mov/en.html
when I click on HDRi (the third video clip down)
PS
When i am in Silverfast ai demo, there are no options coming up in the negafix box to select film type, speed etc. Should this be so and is this having something to do with me not being able to see my scan as a colour photo that I can then work with?
Thanking you
Gary

Re: Archiving many negs
Dear Gary
Once you have opened the picture in HDR or HDR Studio you have to switch to negative for the NegaFix dialogue to appear, then you select your scanner source first (scanner model), and then you will have the film options available.

Dear Alejandro,
I thought something was up!!!!!
I do switch to negative but there is nothing to select in the NegaFix drop down menu's!!!!!
No Scanner, or any thing else below that.
I would send you a screen shot but I havent an email address to send it to.
How do I get around this?

Here is a close up of the Nega Fix option again. I see the picture imported into word is not allowed.

PS It is in Microsoft paint now.

Re: Archiving many negs
Dear Gary,
it seems you are having the scanning application open in the background while working with HDR, this might be creating a conflict in NegaFix HDR.
Please try closing the scanning application first and then opening SilverFast HDR to see if this solves the problem

Dear Alejandro,
Closing the Silverfast AI that was running in the background has solved the problem. Thank you.
Now I can start using the demo versions of Archive Suite to see if I want to buy it.
