7500i film Scanner Produces multiple exposures in final scan

I can scan about 4 or 5 good scans but after that the results are very erratic. I get ghost images or multiple images. I've tried many things including reseting the scanner to factory settings and I have restarted my computer. Nothing works. When I start scanning the next day I get the same results: 4 or 5 good scans and then the bad ones for the rest of the time. Is this a rusult of software or could my scanner be faulty?

Dear KChristensen,

as you can perform several good scans, I would conclude that the software behaves equally well for all scans, and the hardware causes problems later.
But that's hard to tell without further investigations.
