Hi
I just got my RPS7200 Professional and made my first experiences with Silverfast Ai. I'm wondering if ICE3 is supported for my scanner by Silverfast, since I don't see the ICE icon as described in the manual. I only have the iSRD icon. If not, are there any plans to implement Hardware ICE for the RPS7200?
Secondly, starting the Silverfast Launcher does not display a Launcher menu as described in the manual - it is immediately searching for the scanner and then I get the main window (SilverFast PIE MF Scanner) and the Silverfast Main Menu. As I understand, in the launcher start screen, it is possible to select the right plugin. I am using Version 6.6.0r3a. I am now unsure if I have the right version installed which supports my RPS7200? Or does the Fastlauncher start screen only appear if other versions are installed?
Any help is very much appreciated,
Cheers Uncle Tom

Re: RPS7200, Silverfast Ai and ICE3
Dear Uncle Tom,
availability of ICE is depending on a licence, but our iSRD is also a truely Hardware (i.e. infra red) based feature.
It even has the advantage over ICE to be parametrizable to your needs.
You can see the version number in SilverFast's start up and splash screen, and you can read it in the window title(!)
of SilverFast's main dialog (the one with the "SilverFast" logo in it).
When SilverFast opens with your scanner and you see the documents in the preview that reside in your scanner,
than you can be sure to have the correct SilverFast version running.
Best regards
Martin

Dear Martin
Many thanks for your explanations. I was somehow unprecise by writing "I am unsure about the installed version...". Of course I can see the version number but to be clearer: I am unsure if I have the right version for my scanner model. But I guess the SW would not work if it's not the correct one.
As I understand from your answer, ICE is only supported through iSRD for the RPS7200 Professional because of licensing restrictions? Or why is then an additional ICE icon available on other scanner models 8as described in the manual).
I will now do some iSRD testing over the week-end :-)
Best regards,
Uncle Tom

Dear Uncle Tom,
for some scanners ICE is available, for others iSRD - both use the infrared scanned image data
to detect the defects, but iSRD is parametrizable from its special preview dialog.
Best regards
