a lot of grain (PrimeFilm XE + Silverfast SE 8)
When scanning a film (i.e. Fuji Superia ASA 200- outdoors shot) I do get a LOT of grain. That happens with any film. Any suggestion on how this grain can be eliminated? Any setting related to it? I will appreciate any help regarding this subject. Yes, I am new on using this software. Thanks in advance.

Dear user,
When you are talking about visible grain I assume you are scanning at a resolution which is above the effective resolution of the film.
This effect occurs when the scan resolution is set too high.
The easiest way to avoid this would be to try scanning at a lower resolution.
The GAIN tool also tries to reduce the borders between individual grain structures. However it will not remove the grain because that could also reduce detail in the scan.
Kind regards,
Arne

Thank You for your response-help.
What might be a good resolution for scanning i.e. a FUJI Superia 200 ASA or a KODAK Gold 100 ASA film, in order not to exceed film's effective resolution? I am talking about the values on the resolution slider (and why not the Preset Resolution field). Consider that I want to generate a file (not printing on a printer) that I want to view and why not to print it at a lab (professionally) as a 4x6 or 8x10 photo. Most likely, I wouldn't process it further (i.e. Photoshop). Thanks again for your time.

Dear user,
That is difficult to tell, as I have not tested that myself.
You should simply do some scans at various resolutions and check them in 100% view.
That way you should be able to determine which resolution gives the best details without showing the film grain.
Kind regards,
Arne
