Hi,
I'm new here, I'm evaluating Silverfast SE Plus looking for better results than with Cyberview X that comes with the scanner.
I was trying to do a batch scan of a 24 frames positive film strip.
How can I automatically scan it, meaning start, scan one slide, automatically forward to the next one, scans ... an so on, with no user action need ?
Isn't this a batch scan ?
Thanks in advance

Dear customer,
The function you are searching for is called ADF scan.
We have a manual for that on our website.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
The original poster says he has the SEplus version, as I have.
The manual for ADF scanning that you referred to says "open your AI Studio 8 software".
Can you clarify whether the SE8 plus version can do ADF scanning, or do I need to upgrade to the Studio version?
I have the Segal book, but a search gets no hits for ADF in that, to my surprise.
The Seagal book says batch scanning is possible for all versions of Silverfast, but the chapter on batch scanning is all about flatbeds not film strips.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
Dear Mr Boreham,
SilverFast can use ADF scan in all versions.
However certain features like the image auto-adjustment for ADF scans are only available in SilverFast Ai Studio.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
Thanks.
After posting I read the ADF scan manual again and saw the following note on page 2:-
"The ADF functionality is only included with the Ai Studio version of SilverFast 8 and it is only used by scanners featur- ing an automatic feeder. A list of compatible scanners can be found on the last page of this document."
.....so i went ahead and upgraded to Studio. So I am surprised by your answer that ADF is available in all versions! It didn't seem to be woking in SE Plus for me.
Having understood all the differences with Studio, I am not regretting the upgrade.

Thank you.
I have emailed Reflecta, including offering to beta test, but have not had a reply.

To my knowledge the ADF functionality is included in all versions.
However not all features are.
Our documentation department will check that manual.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
In that case what is the purpose/function of "batch scan" for this scanner. I have its sister scanner, the PIE PrimeFilm 7250 Pro, & the only thing that I can find that batch scan does for me is to increment the file number. Using either the SE version or the AI demo, when I batch scan, the scanner does the first scan then stops & reports that the scan is finished - despite having all the frames selected on overview. Also, I've been unable to find a use for the next frame & previous frame buttons. Clicking on them moves the proper frame into position, but it is not displayed, even when it has been prescanned previously, & attempting to prescan or scan then moves the scanner to the frame that is selected in overview & performs the operation on that frame. It seems the only way to get back to a frame that one has already adjusted is to select the frame in overview & do another prescan on it (and the adjustments are not retained). I like using Silverfast because iSRD works better than the d&s removal in the other scanner software I've used & it's easier to get each image adjusted right, but, unfortunately, so far I'm pretty much reduced to working in single frame mode.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
The automated film scanning option is currently called ADF scan.
The batch scan is mainly for flatbed devices.
This will be renamed in a future update so the ADF option will also be called batch scan.
The option now called batch scan will no longer be displayed as it is not of much use for this device.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
Thank you for your prompt response & for that clarification. I would really like to be able to prescan all frames on a negative film strip, make individual adjustments, then batch scan the strip with my adjustments implemented on each frame. This is the workflow that I got used to using with another scanner software program. Is this possible to do with my scanner, at this time, with Silverfast 8? I have not been able to figure out how to do this, even using the AI Studio demo with job manager (purchasing this version is sadly cost prohibitive for me as I am not a professional, though I would be able to upgrade to SE plus if I needed to). I realize I can batch scan with ADF, but using the settings from the first frame for all frames is unsatisfactory. Even with AI Studio & Auto Adjust, it's not quite the same as being able to tweak each frame individually. Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to give me.

Re: Refleta RPS 7200 batch film scanner
Individual adjustments and batch scanning currently can not be combined for this device.
But our developers are currently adjusting the JobManager for this device and it will become available in one of our next updates.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn
