Hi!
I own a Reflecta CrystalScan 7200+ that ships with SilverFast SE 6.4.1r8a and comes with ICE3 scratch and dust removal technique. Experiments with the CrystalScan X software have shown that ICE3 works like a charm - but I cannot get it to work unser SilverFast (which I'd prefer to use, because it's way better than CrystalScan X when it comes to colour corrections, pre-defined profiles for film material - basically just everything except the ICE feature...).
I am not sure why, but I could not yet get any dust-removal running in SilverFast except SRD which does not perform as well as the IR-assisted scratch removal. Unfortunately the buttons and dialogues differ slightly from what is shown in the documentation, and the tutorial video does not mention hardware-assisted dust-removal, so it is difficult to judge. But judging from the results I get and the options I find it looks like SilverFast does not support ICE3 on the Reflecta CrystalScan 7200.
Any clue would be welcome...
Best regards
Volker

Dear Volker,
you should find a button labeled iSRD next to the preview - that's the IR-assisted SRD variant. One click on that button will enable automatic iSRD; a second click will switch to manual iSRD - you get a second button to open the SRD dialog for manual adjustments.

Hi Ralf!
Thank you for the hint.
I did in fact try the different settings of the iSRD button, but had not noticed that iSRD was actually at work - I was mainly judging the effect from a few heavy scratches in an image, and those were wiped out more efficiently by ICE3 - my fault.
To stress that point: in most cases ICE3 and iSRD perform equally superb, and I think the other features of SilverFast make good for the fact that ICE3 is not supported.

I think I need to correct myself. Having scanned well over 100 images now, I must admit that iSRD is working perfectly. I am clueless as to why it missed out on the first image on which I tried it. The scratch was almost perfectly vertical in the image - maybe this was part of the reason?
Anyway: Thank you for the quick help with my obviously stupid question!
