film compartment on a 35mm camera?

How Do you open the film compartment on a 35mm camera? I have a photography assignment that is due, and I can't open the film compartment of my camera, to insert the film. I know how to load the film, but I can't manage to get the film compartment open on this camera (I can't find any sort of release button). My camera is a Pentax, if that helps at all. Please help me!

Dear sanarota,

I do not know your camera but probably you can try to use the lever used to rewind the film by pulling it (out of your camera). Perhaps it will open the compartment.
