Hello,
I have upgraded my Mac to the new system version El Capitan 10.11 and I am having a problem I didn't have before.
When I start scanning my slide, everything goes well until Silverfast tries to make another pass (like iSRD or ME) and stops saying "Unknown error".
Will there be a Silverfast update to insure compatibility with the new OS X release ? I'm surprised you did not test your software to this new version before.
Thank you,
Guillaume

Re: Unknown error with OS X El Capitan 10.11
Dear Guillaume,
We are currently testing OS X 10.11 and will update our support information on our website as soon as our tests are finished.
We only got the final OS X 10.11 release at the same moment you did.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I understand, but this is also why Apple gives away the download to developers before the official release date, to make them test their apps before the release.

Unfortunately Apple is known to often makes last-minute changes to the last versions.
Therefor we only test using the final release.

Re: Unknown error with OS X El Capitan 10.11
I had the same problem, but it was resolved with the 8r9 update - or so I thought.
I worked with scanning one film two days ago and it worked fine, but when I today started to scan another, the "unknown error" was back, exactly as bad as before!
I have reset all parameters and restarted, but it does not help.
I have also looked at Plustek's webpage for drivers but there does not seem to be any OS 10.11 driver (yet).

Dear customer,
The drivers on your system probably could not be updated.
Please delete the Plustek****.framework files from the directory
/Library/Frameworks.
Then re-install the latest update again and restart your Mac.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Unknown error with OS X El Capitan 10.11
Have uninstalled Silverfast & downloaded the latest version (8r9).
Pre-scan works fine (using Plustek 8200i SE) but when attempting final scan, still get 'unknown error'. Any ideas to cure ?

Did you manually remove the framework files from the Framework folder?
Simply uninstalling will not be enough.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Unknown error with OS X El Capitan 10.11
I'm in the same position with v8.5.0r9: random unknown errors on the second scan pass (ME, in this instance) whilst in OS X 10.11.1.
Not every scan, but every three or four. And requiring a force-quit of Silverfast, a power down and power up of the scanner, a prescan which then grinds to a halt as the software tries to drive the scanner but can't get it off the first cog (grinding noises), followed by another force-quit of Silverfast, and another power-down and power-up of the scanner (plustek OpticFilm 8100). Rather painful.
I've deleted the files in <Macintosh HD>/Library/Frameworks/ folder, have uninstalled Silverfast (interesting script, in that it doesn't show any evidence that the software is deleted, and doesn't show in Trash).
I'm now waiting to receive the replacement Silverfast software to reinstall (it's a slow link: 40 minutes to get the whole package). Will return here to see how things went.

All is good now: I've scanned dozens of slides with no problems whatsoever. Recommend following instructions above!
