I'm using the latest SF Archive Suite on OS X Yosemite. I use an Admin userid to install all software and a different user id for day-to-day activities including scanning. SilverFast is installed by the Admin id for all users.
As a non admin user I was unable to save new Negafix profiles. Every I attempt ended with the message "... Profile already exists" and no additional action was permitted. This message is a bit misleading as the problem turned out to be permissions on a shared folder.
The folder /Users/Shared/LaserSoft Imaging/ and all sub folders and files had permissions restricting write access to the Admin id. I changed the permissions to allow read/write for all users and applied them to all sub folders and files. This resolved the problem. I'm not sure changing all the sub folders is the best or proper solution. I would appreciate your comments regarding the proper way to set these permissions.
I would also like to suggest that future releases of SilverFast issue a more appropriate message and that shared permissions are set appropriately during SilverFast installation.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Unable to save new Negafix profiles
Dear Rick,
We will check on the error message.
The access rights however have to be configured in the operating system itself.
SilverFast can not do this because it could cause security issues.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Unable to save new Negafix profiles
If this information is documented anywhere, I have not seen it. Perhaps these kind of extra steps should be readily available on your website or in a read.txt file that is visible on the mounted disk image when the installer dmg is opened. A document that explained when installing SF on a multi-user machine requires permissions to be set in a specific way for other users to save profiles, would have saved me a lot of time.
Please consider updating or adding to the SF documentation.
Regards,
Rick

Re: Unable to save new Negafix profiles
Dear Rick,
You will have to check the OS X documentation. The access rights management is not part of SilverFast.
Normally it is not necessary to configure anything for multi-user support.
This behavior is configured locally on your machine.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
