Dear moxou,

did this problem just occur after isntalling the 10.5.3 Update ?
Please try deleting the preference files and repair the permissions of your systems HDD with Disk Utility.

Postby eubean » Thu Sep 04, 2008 5:30 pm

Hello,
I've been having similar problems with the same outcome. I'm using Photoshop CS3 10.1 and OS Leopard 10.5.4. When I attempt to scan I have computer freezes. While I am able to still use other programs, my Photoshop and Silverfast are frozen as well as the scanner itself. I have an Epson Expression 1680. If I toss the Lasersoft Imaging folder from the preference area, the scanner will preview and scan ONCE. Upon a second scan, the above mentioned programs and scanner will freeze again. In each case, I must "force quit" Silverfast Ai and Photoshop CS3. This problem started after installing Leopard several months ago. Because of the frustration, I moved over to v**s**n. I had hoped this stuff would have been fixed by now. But 4 months later, after updating all software, the same problem remains. It's become pointless to use your software. Can you suggest out a permanent fix for this? I really hope so because I prefer the Silverfast software (when it works!)

Regards,
Eubean

Hello

I have similar problems with Silverfast 6.6.0r3 and 10.5.5. I did repair my access rights without any success.
I did recently upgrade my hard drive and during this I changed the file system of MAC OS X extended to MAC OS X extended case sensitive. After this Nikon Scan and Nikon NX 2 do not work anymore. For Nikon NX 2 I did find a support entry that it is not supported on case sensitive volumes but for Nikon Scan....
So I hoped Silverfast might be a solution. But it crashes too during startup. And it still runs in emulated mode?

Regards, Prosi

Dear prosi,

Mac OS X extended case sensitive is causing not supported with SilverFast there are also a lot of other applications out there that do not run on Mac OS X extended case sensitive so I would reccomend using the standard Mac OSX extended(journaled) filesystem.

Thanks

That helps (my case-sensitive Leopard would crash Silverfast too - thought was just me), but would you care to explain why Silverfast can/will not support a case-sensitive OSX?

It seems –apart from being non-standard– a reasonable option to have your OSX system disk formatted case-sensitive. I'm a web-developer, and all my projects end-up on a case-sensitive Linux, so I would like this to work for applications I use for that purpose; Silverfast not being the least important...!

Or is there any advice against this from Apple themselves, that I missed?

Or is there a timeline-target for this issue?
A: Is God real? --- B:I am a human being. --- C: Yes, but is there any evidence that God is real? --- B: I am a human being believing in God. (...)

Has this been fixed? The Silverfast plugin crashes Photoshop every time unless I reboot and start Photoshop.

I am not using case sensitive HFS+.

Re: Silverfast 6.6.0r1 and 10.5.3

Postby LSI_Luebker » Mon Mar 02, 2009 9:44 am

Dear noob_for_life,

the problem you have seems to be a different one than the other users in this post had, which is that they used case sensitive HFS+ .

First of all I would recommend you to update to the latest SilverFast Version which is SilverFast 6.6.0r4c and the latest OSX which is 10.5.6 for any further help I would need more detailed Information. It would be much easier to solve your problem directly with the Support.
best regards,
