hi,
I saw the other posts and understand there is no version of Mac OS X for this scanner. I moved off Windows (for good reasons) and now I'm stuck with the plustek Scanner
that doesn't work with the SilverFast version.
Is there a way to use the latest Mac OS X version to use with this scanner? I would pay for this software to work...
tried the demo version of 6.6.0r1 with no luck!
The Mac sees the Scanner:
Version: 4.00
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Plustek INC
Product ID: 0x0c04
Serial Number: 1
Vendor ID: 0x07b3
thanks
mbp

Re: Mac OS X and Plustek OpticFilm 7200i
Dear mbp,
so sorry, but Plustek never developed a driver for the 7200i .
After we asked them about it the next successive Scanners ( 7300 & 7500i ) were ported to Mac OSX but not the 7200i...
Maybe you can do the cheap upgrade of buying a used 7500i and selling your used 7200i .
Shouldn't be too much money lost in that transaction !
Greetings,

Re: Mac OS X and Plustek OpticFilm 7200i
I found an easier solution instead of buying a new Scanner.
I have VMware Fusion installed on my Intel based Mac. I installed a version of WinXP SP2* as a virtualized Guest on my Mac OS X. I connected the USB (Plustek) to the WinXP
guest, and installed the driver and Silverscan software in the WinXP guest.
Works perfect! I share the Mac OS X folders with the WinXP guest, so that I can save the scanned images directly to Mac OS X for further image processing.
Didn't cost me anything (already had VMware Fusion retails $~60) and I need one less piece of hardware on my desk
hope this helps other users

* needs to be SP2 for USB connectivity for my Mac.

Thanks, marcobillpeter! I have the exact same problem! I have been reluctant to get rid of my PC because of the scanner, but now I know I can!
Now my question is, what are the pros/cons of VMWare Fusion vs. Boot Camp + Windows on the Mac? I just don't know the difference. Thanks if anybody knows.
