B&W negative scan reversed tones

Postby OdDoF » Tue Jan 17, 2012 9:53 pm

I am trying to scan some black and white negatives on my Epson V700 scanner using Mac OS X 10.7. The resulting pictures are tone reversed, that is, they look like the negatives. I guess there is some setting that is wrong.

For the setting I have "Transparancy", "Negative" and "16 Bit HDR" and TIFF output. If I rather use "16->8 bit" the pictures have the correct tones, but I do not want to limit the files to only 8 bit depth. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Dear OdDoF,

16bit HDR is saving the data directly in the file, without any correction. You can edit these files with the program SilverFast HDR. 16bit grayscale is a feature of SilverFast Ai.
