Looking for a legal-size scanner for Panther/Photoshop

Postby rkusa » Sun Oct 10, 2004 10:49 pm

I just replaced my PowerMac G4 with an iMac G5, so that means I have to get rid of my HP ScanJet 4c because it is SCSI. I?m looking for a legal-size scanner for Firewire or USB 2.0 connection that will work with SilverFast (my favorite scanning software). I need something as fast as the HP I?m getting rid of.

I tried the Microtek i700, and it takes about twice as long as the HP to scan the same art at the same settings, even using Silverfast. That?s just too long. I need fast prescans and fast scans.

Any suggestions?

Or does anyone have any experience using the SCSI-Firewire or SCSI-USB adapters with HP scanners?

Thanks.

Dear rkusa

unfortunately we have no HP 4c available right now in our testing center.

However, we did run a test with the HP6100C, Ratoc FR1SX and a Belkin FS451U firewire-to-SCSI conversion adapter.
Both unsuccessfully, the scanner couldn't be detected.

Kind regards
