input->internal option only"none"- Microtek 180

Postby ciprianoalgor » Wed Jan 26, 2005 9:37 am

i've tried searching this forum for an answer, but no luck. i am trying to figure out why, in the options window in SF Ai Studio 6.4.1r1, under the CMS tab, i am given only one "input --> internal" option: "none". ColorSync is greyed-out. i've calibrated, the icc profiles are in my library. what's wrong? i've gone through ian lyons' tutorial, i've tried everything that i could come up with. help, please?

Dear ciprianoalgor,

could you choose an internal profile, the adobe1998 for e.g. and try to switch to ICM afterwards.

kind regards

hello, sascha. i have tried that, (i've been using adobe rgb since i installed the software) and just tried again, to sort of reset the boxes, but no good. i thought that maybe if i left the cms dialogue box, with "none" chosen for all i might be able to go back and change, but it won't let me leave without choosing an internal, so the only one that can really change is the input->monitor. anyway i don't know if i'm being clear, but no, it didn't work. another option? color sync is still greyed out in input->internal. thanks, sascha.

sascha, one more thing: interestingly, when i switch "Input -> Internal" to <NONE> and "Interna"l to <NONE>, the dialog box preventing me from exiting the options windown with those settings says :

"You've selected the following Color Management settings:
Input --> Internal: ColorSync

In order to work properly, the following settings are missing:
Internal"

that is with "Input ->Internal" AND "Internal -> Monitor" set to <none>. ie. it may see the "Input -> Internal" <none> as ColorSync (?) but definitely also sees the "Internal -> Monitor" <none> as <none>. b/c with "Internal" still set to <none> i must switch it to ColorSync (in that box, "Internal -> Monitor", i am given a choice betwen <none> and colorsync, both options are active) before it gives me a similar warning to the one above:

"You've selected the following Color Management settings:
Input --> Internal: ColorSync
Internal -> Monitor: ColorSync

In order to work properly, the following settings are missing:
Internal"

it's sounds a little like a laurel and hardy sketch, but hopefully it's clear enough for you to be able to give me some guidance. thanks again. otherwise i love the app. i wish that the siverfast would shut off the microtek scanner's lamps when not in use, and would only activate the speicific lamp for the scanning job; and that microtek would have allowed an adjustable, manual focus of the lens, but i do love the app. am about to buy a copy of Ai studio for use with my Nikon super coolscan 5000, too. regards, michael.

Dear ciprianoalgor,

could install the latest update first and get sure to have the adobe 1998 profil chosen as the internal one.

If it is missing the update will install it.

kind regards

hi again, sascha. i have installed the latest update, same problem in previous build and current one. i do have adobe 1998 set as internal, it is my embedded profile for all work. it is set presently in silverfast. it is the colorsync option in inout->internal that is missing. thanks.

Dear ciprianoalgor,

could you write to our support directly - I want you to sent me your statistic.txt file which you can produce through the expert dialog.
(Little paper sheet button)

But please don't post it here - for your own safety ;)

sascha, am about to recalibrate, using ian lyons' step by step procedure. having changed my transparency setting to positive (for the IT8 target) instead of color negative (which is what i've been scanning) the colorsync option is available in input->internal. does negafix perhaps disable the colorsync option when scanning negs, b/c it has its own preset icc profiles for each neg type and vendor? if so, i guess that's the problem. i have sent the info you requested via the "contact support" form on this site. will repost after the recalibration. thanks again.

Dear ciprianoalgor,

you are right - when you scan negatives the calibration won't be activated. There is no way to calibrate through the orange mask of negative, yet. Maybe in the future.
