Silverfast SE crashes when scanning in PhotoshopCS3

Postby DavidAVogel » Wed May 16, 2007 1:25 pm

I can not imagine why LaserSoft is NOT SUPPORTING Photoshop CS3! Doesn't, I dunno, maybe 50% of your users work from the Photoshop plug-in for their Epson scanners?

I have an Epson 3200 Photo Scanner that came with a purchased copy of Silverfast SE as the operating software for scanning. Running on a Mac G5 in System 10.4.9. Worked fine in Photoshop CS, and PS CS2. Now even after installing the newest SilverFast plug-in for CS3- PHOTOSHOP CS3 CRASHES AFTER EVERY SCAN.

I'm going to uninstall all of my CS2 applications. (I don't have space for duplicate applications) I don't feel I should have to spend over $100 to upgrade ... and No, I DON'T WANT TO SCAN IN CS2, THEN OPEN IN CS3. One of the main advantages of the Silverfast plug-in was working entirely in Photoshop!

LASERSOFT: PLEASE PROVIDE A DOWNLOAD (FREE!) UPGRADE TO MAKE MY SCANNER WORK WITH PHOTOSHOP CS3!

Dear DavidAVogel,

The fix for the Photoshop CS3 problem is now available for download from our website. The SilverFast plugin vers. 6.5.0r6 itself has not being changed. Therefor the version number is still the same.

Fix for Photoshop CS3 crashes unfair

Postby DavidAVogel » Fri May 18, 2007 2:48 pm

As I replied elsewhere on the forum- The "fix" for PSCS3 crashes is purchase of Silverfast 6.5.

This is not fair or even ethical treatment of those who bought SilverFast as operating software for their scanners.
Many of those users don't need or want the "new features" of SilverFast 6.5.
And many of those users- including me- feel your company is extorting them for additional payment of $30, $50 or more- just to keep their machines running.

My additional payment should not be the "fix' for this problem. A simple, free, downloadable, update that prevents CS3 from crashing would be appropriate.
