Silverfast SE and Jaguar

Postby gmischol » Mon Nov 11, 2002 3:13 pm

Lasersoft is very confusing about OS X compatibility on their homepage. I downloaded the Version of Silverfast SE for my Nikon Coolscan IV ED. I chose the download option for Mac OS as Photoshop Plugin (Photoshop 7 and Elements 2). Everything goes fine including the installation, but whenever I try to import pictures with Nikon-SE, my scanner is not recognized (although v**s**n always finds him and scans!). Where's the problem, does anyone know an answer or a solution? I copied the logfile if this can provide you with some more information.

thanks for any help

Gaudenz

Please open the Folder "Library/Application Support".
If there is a NikonM folder then open this. There you could see the Nikon folder. Move this one to the "Application Support" folder. If there is allready a Nikon folder, rename or discard this.

You need to have a film in the scanner during start of SilverFast.

kind regards,

I confirm what my colleague wrote. Indeed, the installer of the version 6.0.1r20 did not install the drivers at the correct location.

A new version of SF will be available tomorrow with the release number 6.0.1r27.

What about Epson Perfection 2450 scanners? The standalone Silverfast app crashes on startup. I get a brief glimpse of Silverfast 5Ai screen and then it crashes. I can not get Silverfast SE to work at all under Jaguar. It will not work with Photoshop 6 in classic or Photoshop Elements 2. Silverfast 5.5 SE worked in classic under 10.1 but can not find a device under 10.2. So I tried Silverfast 6 SE but it is worse crashing outright standalone and crashing Photoshop Elements 2 as well.

This is an update to my previous problem above.

I was using a trial version of Photoshop Elements 2 above. I have since purchased a full version of PhotoShop Elements 2 and now Silverfast 6 Se is working.

The only problem now is that my serial number for Silverfast 5.5 SE that came bundled with my Epson scanner does not activate Silverfast 6 SE.
