SF_App ?

Postby deb » Tue Jul 22, 2003 12:10 pm

I have a dual 1.2 mirror door 10.2.6, PS7, Microtek Scanmaker 9800XL and the SF 6.0.1r35.
I've reinstalled SF a few times, Wizard first, wizard not at all, etc. It works sometimes.

I'm using the standalone. The biggest problems are the settings I put in don't "stick";.
Then there's I/O problems? I can get a couple scans and then inexplicably the next one prescans fine, but there's apparently an IO error because the scan is corrupted (scanlines) when it's written to disk - or if I do the SDR I can see the scanlines. I've tried FIrewire and USB and it's the same deal.
Also, SF is trying to write or do something somewhere that causes it to quit with a Bad exception, Kernel Protection Failure error.
And, SF doesn't quit "gracefully" - it leaves invisible temp files, which must have the flags set wrong, because fsck finds them and deletes them.

I really like this software, is there a way to make it work on a consistent basis??
Also, any value in upgrading to the latest patch level - or is that not free either???

First of all, you should try to upgrade SilverFast to version 6.0.2. That could solv many problems. You need to register yourself to get the needed userdata. The best registration method is online under support-> registration.

kind regards
