Adaptec 2906 workaround?

Apparently SilverFast doesn't work with SCSI scanners under OS X if an Adaptec SCSI card 2906 is being used... exactly what my new G4 uses. Any workarounds to this problem?

There might be some problems with SCSi under OS X.
The problem is, that the SCSI card is not able to find the scanner. This is not a SilverFast problem, but a hardware problem. For the Adaptec SCSI card 2906 you need the newest driver for OS X. You will find this at: www.adaptec.com. Before you start the Mac you have to start the scanner and wait, until it is ready to scan. Than start the Mac. In the case you use a too long scsi cable, there might be also apear some problems. Once the Mac will find the scanner ( you can see this in the Apple System Profiler ) SilverFast will work propper.

I had problems using my G4 DP running OS X with an Adaptec 2906 when I tried to use my Nikon LS30 with either Nikon Software or with Silverfast software. The scanner was simply not found by the scanning software yet the Apple 'About this Mac' application quite happily reported both the scanner and scsi card were present and recognised. The scanner info was complete but the info about the card was not entirely complete . The Card type, Card Model and ROM no. was 'unavailable' for the card.
However, if you have this configuration and are desperate to get it up and running then Imagvue works perfectly without any problems.

I was able to get the Adaptec 2906 SCSI card to "see" my Minolta Dimage Scan Multi by attaching the scanner to the back of my Iomega Zip drive. Attaching the scanner directly to the SCSI card didn't work, even though I installed the newest drivers obtained from the Adaptec web page.

The bigger question is:

Will Silverfast work with the Minolta Dimage Scan Multi on a Mac G4 running 10.2.3?

Do I need to buy v**s**n instead?
