Some crashes with 5.5.2r02 and LS30

Today i played around with the new 5.5.2r02 for my LS30. I tried to do a batch scanning of a diapositive. A complete picture and a second frame with a portrait cutout. The scan started and completed the first frame, then on starting the next one, it crashes and with it PS 6.0.1 without a error message.

Second try a cutout only (about 1x1cm), i did a zoomed preview and wanted to do a unsharp masking and while selecting the preview area for the unsharp masking it crashes again.

G4/400 AGP, OS 9.2.2, 1Gig RAM, 500 Mb for PS only
PS 6.0.1
SF 5.5.2r02
Nikon LS 30
Resolution was set to HW max. 2700dpi

Anyone else experiences or explanations on this ?

Next Crash:
Trying to do a negative scan, setted the image options and auto correction, then switched to unsharp masking and from there to chose unsharpmask-preview,voila the next crash with error 2!
It?s really annoying, anyone ideas about these things?
When some options are not to be used in special functions, why are they dind?t greyed out?
