Silverfast for Nikon locking up computer

Running W2000 and have been running Silverfast 6 as PS7 plug-in. I downloaded latest version of SF6 (v42). Now whenever I try and run SF6, either as a plug-in or as a stand alone, my computer locks up and requires a hard boot. I have emailed support three time and only received an initial reply which instructed me to uninstall SF6 and Nikon Scan and reinstall SF6 alone. I did this and it still locks up. It has been five days since my second email to Lasersoft without reply and two days since my third email. I was going to call until I saw the per minute charge. This forum appears to be my only hope - too bad support isn't more responsive. I have Epson 1200 version which works fine. By the way, Nikon scan and v**s**n work fine. I just upgraded my scanner to an Epson 3200 but at this point can't justify SF6 for this scanner given the support problems I am having. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this: unplug the Epson scanner and run SilverFast.
if no good, connect Nikon scanner into the other (free) FW or USB plug.
