SilverFast Ai 6 OS-X for Nikon LS2000 is here!

We have worked hard to independently from Nikon have SilverFast Ai 6 OS-X adapted to the Nikon LS2000. The new version is called SilverFast Ai 6 NikonSF and is currently available as demo for testing. The full version will be available as an upgrade in a few days.
The Nikon LS30 will also be adapted to OS-X and will also be available for download shortly!

LS2000 SF6.01 r42

Postby Junebug » Wed Jan 15, 2003 9:14 pm

LS2000 on a Mac running OS 9.1

A few weeks ago I downloaded r41. (which moved me from r27)

When I could not get it to work on my OS 9 machine I was told by support that r41 was for OSX only. So I am continuing to use r27.

Today I noticed r42 is available and downloaded it.

The download page indicates that SF6.01r42 will work with System 9... but I am wondering if this is true. (It could just be that the page was never changed to read OSX only)

Actually when choosing to download the page reads:

Operating System:
o Mac OS 9, OS-X 10.1 10.2

Before I install r42 I thought I'd post here to get a clarification...

How can we tell... if the current version works again with OS9 and OSX?

Yours truly,

Jb.

Dear Junebug,
this is indeed a fault on our side.
1. the plug-in r42 was written ONLY for LS2000 on OSX - and we forgot to change the info text on the download page.

2. Although even this r42 plug-in may run on OS9 as well, it will lack the support for Nikon's ICE function!!
This means there is no sense in updating from your r27 (o.k.) version to a higher release with less features.

The good news: the follow up release will be supporting that ICE feature again on OS9 and only then you should consider to update your SilverFast. However, the following LS2000 release for OS9 will NOT have any extraordinary new features whatsoever. The only purpose for this update is that the next (hybrid) plug-in which is supposed to support the LS2000 on OSX will then open under OS9 as the usual (known) SilverFast as you have it with your r27 already.

In short: only because two SilverFasts for two operating systems are going to be merged into one SilverFast installer the release for SilverFast OS9 will change.
