Dear Jeremy

according to the information given in the Nikon support forum, the SF-210 is an accessory that will work with the LS-5000 and LS-4000 film scanner models.
You can of course you these combinations from SilverFast, too.

However, as this slide feeder can only transport slides unidirectional, it is not possible to use the JobManager with it. SilverFast's JobManager would require a overview scan of the images in question that than would have to be selected for a given job.
Because of the mechanical limitation (that the slides can only be transported in one direction), the overview scan is deactivated when the SF-210 (same holds true for the SF-200).

Therefore only batchscanning is possible with SF 6 Ai and an LS-5000 with the SF-210 feeder.

I realize that the SF-210 is marketed as being for use only with the LS4000 and LS5000, but is there a chance that Silverfast is able to enable an LS40 or LS50 to use this same adapter? The question I'm really implying here is this: Is the SF-210 limited to the LS4000 and the LS5000 because the Nikon Scan says so, or because the LS40 and LS50 are mechanicly not able to use it?

Thanks,
Ron

IIRC , the electrical connector that identifies the module inserted into the scanner will not recognize the SF200/210 on the LS40/50 models. It is either that or the rom in the scanner disables that plug in module.

Nikon marketing decision apparently.

Dear Ron

SilverFast accesses the scanner using the NikonMAID driver libraries.
If they don't offer to use a certain adapter - for whatever reason - unfortunately we cannot do it differently than intended by Nikon.
Hope this clarifies my prior statement.
