Silverfast 5.5R09 for LS4000/LS2000 is here now! AND MORE!
<b> SilverFast Ai 5.5 with NegaFix for Nikon LS 2000-LS4000 is here </b>
It has taken somewhat longer than estimated, but finally SilverFast Ai 5.5 for Nikon film scanners is here for download for Macintosh. We apologize for the delay, but being dependent on Nikon, we did our best!

PC-Versions are being compiled right now and should be on our server by tomorrow!

We are working on a special problem with Nikon Japan which could be solved within a couple of days. Since they had a week off in Japan, we had a delay but expect a solution no later than the end of next week.
A response will really help on this one...
Any idea if v5.5 for the Nikon LS-2000 will be ready this week?
(I just took in a job to scan 27 color negatives, all Fuji NPS, I've been hearing so many good responses to Nega-Fix. I'd love to try it.)
I did upgrade to HDR 5.5 today. Should I be able to scan using SF(version before 5.5) in HDR and use HDRv5.5 with the same effect?
Jb.

SilverFast Ai 5.5 for Nikon Scanners
I regret that we are dependent on Nikon. They have to do a change in their Maid module, so we can properly use our NegaFix function. They are working on it, but they told us, that it will take them at least until the end of next week.
A way around
Use Nikon scan to scan a negative into raw data. Use SilverFast HDR 5.5 with NegaFix to convert the negative data.

There are a few house keeping issues that need to be borne in mind when scanning negatives raw for later processing in HDR. The HDR tutorial was updated to iinclude references to the NegaFix workflow that the President has outlined.

BTW: don't simply set the dialogs as I show, read the notes adjacent to them and you will see what needs to be done for negatives

Downloaded the demo of HDR 5.5, to try the trick written a few posts back.
But I am only able to use the Negafix function on my LS 4000 if I scan the Negative as a "positive" in Nikonscan or Silverfast Ai 5.2??? Otherwise the Negafix function is not available.
Second problem is only with Silverfast if you scan a negative as a positive the negative feeder seems to crash (no reaction anymore on the scanner, without switching on and of)probably because it can not locate the border between the negs.
Is there something I am doing wrong??

You are right! The current version of SilverFast can not properly locate the border of the film when negative is scanned as positive. Nikon has internal reversal that we cannot use because of our own negative function. We are working with Nikon to resolve this problem.
For the time being try to use Nikon scan to scan the negative as positive and then use SilverFast HDR to adjust the negative.

I am using Nikon scan to scan the negatives as positive, autoexposure off!!!
But Nikonscan is also not really good in scanning the borders with the autofeeder, the offset is wrong and has to corrected for every scan separately (if you scan negs as positives) and here I also encountered some crashes of the software, probably also autofeeder related. But much less as Silverfast like mentioned in my last post.
But I think this is of some concern in both software packages.
I used a HDR version of SF 5.2 on one terminal to correct the scans made with Sf 5.2 for Nikon LS2000/LS4000 made on the other terminal(to which the scanner is connected)
This works fast, secondly and most important is the autofeeder, it makes batchscanning even more comfortable and faster. But this must not end in a situation were the RAW scanning becomes very time consuming, are there any plans/solutions in the upcoming version of SF 5.5 for the Nikon scanners, to tackle this problem?
