The option to re-open SF after scanning does not work if SF is set to scan "To file".

This is quite annoying since scanning to file is the mode where SF re-opening is needed most.

Why does SF close after scanning anyway??

Please fix that.

Greetings Thomas

Dear TG,
it is normal for SF to close after scanning, because once the scan is "in the box" you are through with SilverFast.
However, SilverFast has a checkbox in its "Option" dialog. This says "re-open after scan". With this box ticked SF will re-open automatically after a scan.
Read the manual.

Thanks for your reply!

I know the checkbox - this is what I'm referring to.

The thing is: it does not work, when SF's scan mode is set to "To File".

And especially when I am scanning a larger number of single slides to file it is annoying having to re-open SF each time manually.

When scanning to file, I usually do not intend to work with Photoshop next, but I need SF open to do the next scan. This is why I selected "To File" in the first hand.

Regards Thomas

Dear All.
I made several tests today, with my Nikon LS IV ED and SilverFast 5.5.2r05 PhotoShop plugin. If the checkbox "Reopen SF after scan" is checked in the option dialog, SilverFast reopens after a scan, no matter if I scan into PhotoShop or File.
The "reopening" is not depended on a specific scanner and therefore it should work with each SilverFast module. However, reopening is not working with Twain plugins, that?s why the checkbox is removed in our Twain plugin.
Several customers have complained about that problem, so there might be a bug, which I just can?t get here. To find the problem, I need the following information:
- Are you using MAC or PC ?
- Which host application are you using (PhotoShop version ?) ?
- Please send me your preference files (inside "SilverFast/Prefs") to eric.flyvbjerg@silverfast.com.
Eric.

Dear Eric,
is it a mistake or are you really using version 5.5.2. r05??
The latest update I can find for Nikon LS40 is 5.5.2. r02...
regards,
Peter
Peter,
You'll find that Eric works for LaserSoft and as such may in fact be using a build that still hasn't been uploaded to the download page. Alternatively he may have just misquoted revision number. Either way I still find that with the Polaroid scanners this feature is not working as it once did - i.e. it is now broken.

Dear All.
Yes, I am working for LaserSoft and my current version is 5.5.2r05. This version is not uploaded to the WEB, because there were no significant changes since 5.5.2r02, which could solve the problem.
In the meantime, I got preference files from two customers (for LS40 and LS2000), which I have tested with 5.5.2r05 and I found no problems. I have send answers to these customers together with version 5.5.2r05 for testing.
I will hold you up to date on the forum.
Eric.
