Questionable IT-8 Calibration results

Postby kmlevine » Fri Sep 10, 2004 2:32 pm

I have a Nikon LS4000 scanner, use a Dell XPS and turn off all color management setting leaving only RGB setting and workspace of Adobe 1998 in preparation for calibrating... Gamma is set at 2.2.

After performing Silverfast?s IT-8 calibration, I am questioniing the results. There is a strange reading for the IT-8 GS11 patch. According to Ian Lyons? tutorials for optimizing Scanner response, the GS 11 patch should have a 100-115 value. Initial readings before the calibration generated a 101 reading. After activating the calibration and prescaning the GS 11 patch generated a reading of 94-96; below what appears to be an acceptable range. Slides scanned after calibration seem to be a bit darker in the mid range than the actual slide.

I am in a quandary as why this is happening and would appreciate your advise or wisdom regarding this response and or how to correct it.

Ken

I've solved this problem by resinstalling SF.
